Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Zion developed a strong passion for non-traditional species from an early age: owning birds and turtles, and as avid zoo attendee. While a city boy at heart, Dr. Zion is excited to explore the natural beauty and warmth Arizona has to offer.  In high school, he began volunteering at an exotic-exclusive animal hospital in Manhattan, returning each break from college to expand his knowledge. He studied Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Vermont. He then earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine: while working as a student technician within the exotic animal department of the university teaching hospital.Besides spending time on the east coast, Dr. Zion has lived abroad: in Tel Aviv, Israel, where he worked at a wildlife and zoological hospital treating an array of species from various raptor species, reptiles, to small and large mammals such as ibex, gazelles, and striped hyenas. Following that, he spent time in Cape Town, South Africa, working primarily with the native African Penguin populations. Most recently, he completed a small animal rotating medicine & surgery internship in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

In addition to his love for veterinary medicine, his passions include traveling, cooking, and learning about other cultures. He is excited for his next adventure: helping the curious, feathered, furry, and scaly friends of the greater Phoenix area!
