Dr. Monica Chen, DVM

From a young age, Dr. Chen knew she wanted to be a veterinarian working with wildlife and exotic animals. With this goal in mind, she completed her undergraduate degree with a major in Zoology at North Carolina State University. During her time there, she traveled abroad to Costa Rica and India to learn about local wildlife conservation and human-wildlife interactions. Immediately following graduation, she went to Midwestern University to obtain her D.V.M. where she was an active member and held leadership roles in the wildlife and exotic club. After graduation, Dr. Chen pursued a small animal rotating internship at VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona (ARECA) before working in private practice as well as emergency medicine. After getting her fill of cats and dogs, she decided to return to her original passion of working with birds and exotic pets.

In her free time, Dr. Chen enjoys training for triathlons and rock climbing with her husband, cooking, baking, and reading.
